Ayurveda teachings and techniques where compiled and presented in a much simpler language by the Vaidyas of Kerala and is known as Ashtangahridayam.

Sumptuous availability of medicinal plants and neutral climatic conditions makes Kerala the best place for practicing Ayurveda. Kerala style of treatment does not use much of metals and minerals that affect the internal organs of the body if not properly purified.

Navarakkizhi, pizhichil, and thakradhara are the significant contributions to Ayurveda from ancient Vaidyas in Kerala.

At Present, Kerala is the only place where Panchakarma is practiced in its full sense.
